The event\, scheduled to coincide with National Puppy Day on March 23 and National Pet Month in May\, will raise awareness about the invaluable role of service dogs in supporting mental health and well-being. \n\n\n\nThe celebration will feature a screening of the Netflix documentary Inside the Mind of a Canine Companion\, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the rigorous training and dedication required to prepare these highly skilled service dogs. Attendees will also enjoy live demonstrations\, interactive stations\, and engaging activities showcasing the bond between humans and facility dogs. \n\n\n\nMaybie\, a specially trained facility dog\, has been providing social\, emotional\, and therapeutic support to students and staff at Fieldstone Middle School for the past three years. After completing two years of intensive training with Canine Companions in Medford\, Long Island\, she has become an integral part of the school’s special education and therapeutic support programs. \n\n\n\nWorking alongside her handler\, special education teacher Michael Morlino\, Maybie helps students struggling with school avoidance\, anxiety\, and emotional regulation. Morlino\, who is passionate about fostering meaningful relationships with students\, credits Maybie’s calming presence with creating a positive\, supportive environment throughout the school community. \n\n\n\nThe event also aligns with National Women’s History Month and International Women’s Day\, recognizing the contributions of women throughout history.
