A Reading of Two Short Plays by Bette and Ric Siler

March 26, 2025 by helpdesk1

A Fashionable Funeral by Bette Siler

JANET and BRENDA are the Mutt and Jeff of the over-60 set. While JANET prides herself on being a sophisticate, BRENDA is an innocent who believes that all things come to she who waits; that there is redemption, and beyond that, a heavenly hereafter. They enter a funeral home in Woodside, Queens, New York to view the body of their friend, Nancy. They are not entirely pleased with the mortician’s best intentions. A FASHIONABLE FUNERAL is a comedy that explores aging, death and how to avoid a bad hair day in your casket.

Writer’s Block by Ric Siler

Chief and Boggs are a couple of small-time criminals. When Boggs steals a leather bag with a play and a laptop in it, Chief is intrigued. When the playwright shows up at their door, it brings up questions that may be better left unanswered.

Circle Up

March 23, 2025 by helpdesk1

Our weekly poets circle, Circle Up, is happening every Thursday night from 6 PM to 7 PM at X House in Nyack. This week, I’m thinking on doing a performance/delivery workshop, but usually we do either writing or editing. If you want weekly emails or texts about that, let me know and I can add you to the proper list. If you can swing it, cost is $5, paid directly to the venue.
