Edward Hopper House Museum presents Hopper’s Birthday Weekend 

FAMILY ART DAY! FREE, Sat., July 19, 2025, 1:30-3:30pm

Join the celebration of American artist Edward Hopper’s 143rd birthday! Drop by an art station to decorate a party hat, create a tempera painting and make a puppet! Enjoy birthday refreshments and more!

All weekend, the Edward Hopper House Museum will also offer art activities in its “Hop into Art” Lab (2nd Floor of the Museum) and “Would be Artist” Art Backpack Kits to check out and go on self-guided neighborhood sketching or  walking tours.

Here, for the very first time, contemporary visionary Tomokazu Matsuyama directly engages with the iconic work of Edward Hopper, focusing on his masterful 1952 painting, “Morning Sun” through his striking new work, “Morning Sun Dance” (2025).

Hopper’s Birthday Weekend: Hike the Hook Like Hopper!

Edward Hopper House Museum presents Hopper’s Birthday Weekend 

Join the Edward Hopper House Museum for a guided hike  Sunday, July 20, through the scenic trails at Hook Mountain, culminating in a relaxing picnic (bring your own) at the summit, or below at Marydell Faith & Life Center. 


ABOUT YOUR GUIDES: 

  • Bob Stien is passionate about the great outdoors. As an environmental educator he is committed to inspiring others to respect and appreciate all that is found in natural settings. He is on the board of the Friends of Rockland Lake and Hook Mountain. He is one of the founders of the New York Fathering Conference.
  • Tom Perry is a life-long resident of Nyack, with an interest in nature and local history. He taught Science at Nyack High School for 33 years, and has led many hiking trips.
  • Jeremy Cazes is a team member in Edward Hopper House Museum’s Visitor Service and an avid explorer of Rockland County’s vast places to hike.

Limited to 40 people (two groups of 20)

Tickets:

  • $10 MUSEUM and FRIENDS OF RIVER HOOK members per person
  • Household Members (up to 4 persons): $30
  • Youth, 18 and under: $5
  • General Public: $15
  • General Public Family (up to 4 persons): $45

Meetup location is at Marydell Life and Faith Center (parking lot 3); details will be sent to registrants per confirmation email.

Hopper’s Birthday Weekend: WonderStruck Puppets’ The Case of the Missing Birthday!

Edward Hopper House Museum presents WonderStruck Puppets’ “The Case of the Missing Birthday” as part of its larger Hopper Birthday Weekend Celebration 

When a birthday goes missing, only one detective is clever, brave, smart enough to solve the case! Mystery Max! Join Max on a wild adventure to find Red’s missing birthday.  Along the way we’ll meet crazy characters, make new friends, sing songs and find clues.  Whodunit?

WonderStuck is a NYC-based puppet troupe, and their traditional booth puppet show  is 35-45 minutes long

Ticket holders are encouraged to bring your own blankets and chairs.

Followed by FREE Family Art Making Day (1:30-3:30) with light Birthday Party Refreshments

Rain Venue to be announced on Friday, July 18.

All Ways Writing Circle

The All Ways Writing Circle offers time, space, community, and inspiration to get some writing done. This is for anyone who wants to write—in any genre—and would benefit from dedicated time. Facilitated by Lily Greenberg, participants will be offered a prompt, approximately 45 minutes to write, then a chance to share their work in a warm and supportive group setting. No experience needed, all genres welcome. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Admission is $12.
Participants are encouraged to register on Eventbrite. Walk-ins are also welcome, and can pay at the door by cash, check, or Venmo.
