Circle Up
Our weekly poets circle, Circle Up, is happening every Thursday night from 6 PM to 7 PM at X House in Nyack. This week, I’m thinking on doing a performance/delivery workshop, but usually we do either writing or editing. If you want weekly emails or texts about that, let me know and I can add you to the proper list. If you can swing it, cost is $5, paid directly to the venue.

Exhibition- PORTAL: The Window in American Photography
On view at the Edward Hopper House Museum through April 27, 2029, PORTAL: THE WINDOW IN AMERICAN PHOTOGRAPHY features masterful images from the Everson Museum (Syracuse, NY) collection, alongside an installation of original Edward Hopper works on paper, on loan from private collectors. Hopper’s fascination with windows is evident throughout his career—his figures are often framed by them, caught between interior darkness and the outside world. Like Hopper, the photographers in PORTAL use windows as physical and emotional thresholds, marking the line between belonging and isolation, freedom and confinement.
The medium of photography would not exist without a window—the aperture through which light travels to create an image,” says Steffi Chappell, Curator and Exhibition Manager at the Everson Museum of Art https://www.facebook.com/EversonMuseumOfArt?__cft__=AZVzBc-lnrtKvpWjLN2lpnlfNZBriJ8DjwdYMAyX656fNbeyuEeQh1j2V4ZosRxnR5sua0nmf6pvZCoe-nIyJ6AHkzg0ohU7jpYJHRhm4x2e9HIJrF7STtK7K-aceASgZvl04o9Mm4FzZIBJHlbKOjMVGd5pavTblRCp2HdiP2sbeprNDOvjZUqFy2TWnDZ8YAQ&__tn__=-]K-R . “A window even played a role in the birth of photography. The oldest surviving image, captured in 1826/27 by Joseph Nicéphore Niépce, shows a French landscape framed by nearby houses, as viewed through an upstairs bedroom window.”
