Our weekly poets circle, Circle Up, is happening every Thursday night from 6 PM to 7 PM at X House in Nyack. This week, I’m thinking on doing a performance/delivery workshop, but usually we do either writing or editing. If you want weekly emails or texts about that, let me know and I can add you to the proper list. If you can swing it, cost is $5, paid directly to the venue.

Voices on the Hudson – Kirsten Maxwell and Jeremy Aaron

September 3, 2025 by helpdesk1

ArtsRock launches it’s new fall season at The Angel Nyack with Voices on the Hudson.  This new series offers an intimate listening experience featuring unique voices singing original songs. This concert features singer-songwriters, Jeremy Aaron and Kirsten Maxwell. Both widely acclaimed for their compelling music and powerful lyrics, this is a unique opportunity to hear their music in Nyack.

Brooklyn-based musician Jeremy Aaron exists within his own convention-defying niche – ranging from dreamy, deeply emotional vocals to subtle and explosive soundscapes that transport listeners to places of raw reflection. Imbued with social commentary while rooted in philosophy, folk music, and surrealism, his lyrics feel uniquely fresh in their contemporary themes.

“His songs are intelligent, the arrangements subtly inventive, stylistically spanning genres – folk/jazz/theater – demanding and holding your attention at every turn.” – Christine Lavin

Born and raised in New York, Kirsten Maxwell has been dubbed a “triple threat”, for a voice “like crystal”, cleverly emotional lyrics, and a room-silencing stage presence. She has opened for notable artists like Melissa Etheridge, Karla Bonoff, Ferron, Sophie B. Hawkins, Bill Tanya Tucker, The Bacon Brothers, and toured with Judy Collins. “Kirsten Maxwell is an amazing writer and powerful, evocative singer whose performances are a sheer joy. She shines in her own lyrical compositions and in her singular choices of other artists, especially those of Joni Mitchell.” Judy Collins, singer/songwriter.

Voices on the Hudson is a collaboration of ArtsRock, The Angel Nyack and Brooklyn-based Voices in the Heights.
