Circle Up
Our weekly poets circle, Circle Up, is happening every Thursday night from 6 PM to 7 PM at X House in Nyack. This week, I’m thinking on doing a performance/delivery workshop, but usually we do either writing or editing. If you want weekly emails or texts about that, let me know and I can add you to the proper list. If you can swing it, cost is $5, paid directly to the venue.

Open Mic With Featured Poet Nicole Cooley
Nicole Cooley grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. Her most recent book is the collection of poetry Mother Water Ash (Louisiana University Press, July 2024) as well as the two poetry collections, Girl after Girl after Girl (Louisiana State University Press, 2017) and Of Marriage (Alice James Books, 2018). She has published four other collections of poems, Breach, Milk Dress, The Afflicted Girls and Resurrection, as well as a novel, Judy Garland, Ginger Love, two chapbooks, Frozen Charlottes, A Sequence, and Vanishing Point, and a collaborative artists’ book (with book artist Maureen Cummins), Salem Lessons. Her awards include The Walt Whitman Award from the Academy of American Poets, a Discovery/The Nation Award, an NEA, a Creative Artists fellowship from The American Antiquarian Society, and the Emily Dickinson Award from the Poetry Society of America. Currently, she is a professor in the MFA Program in Creative Writing and Literary Translation and the English Department at Queens College-City University of New York.

Figure Drawing
Starting January 9, 2024, the Nyack Art Collective will sponsor weekly Figure Drawing on Tuesdays, 6:15-9:15 pm at X House Nyack, 48 S. Franklin St., Nyack, @xhousenyack https://www.instagram.com/xhousenyack/
These sessions are open to the public. Artists must provide their own materials and may bring an easel if desired. Session is $15 per person, $13 for Nyack Art Collective members.

ArtsRock Presents “Wild Symphony” with Rockland Symphony Orchestra
Wild Symphony, by Dan Brown, New York Times best-selling author, brings to life nearly two dozen musical portraits drawn from the animal kingdom. Wild Symphony springs to life on stage with the Rockland Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Nicole Peragine, and narrator Didi Conn, along with projected illustrations. From the joyous rhythms of the “Bouncing Kangaroo,” to the mysterious melodies of the “Wondrous Whale,” to the hair-raising harmonies of the “Brilliant Bat,” this is a very wild symphony indeed!
Narrator Didi Conn is a much-loved actress, best known for playing “Frenchy” in the hit movie Grease.
This is an ArtsRock Milk and Cookies Playhouse performance for the whole family. Milk and Cookies are served after the show.
Dan Brown’s New York Times bestselling children’s book, Wild Symphony, will be for sale at the concert through Big Red Books of Nyack.
