BridgeMusik Summer Festival 2026: Old World, New World — American Echoes

August 2, 2026 by helpdesk1

Join BridgeMusik for Old World, New World — American Echoes, a free Chamber Hour concert presented as part of the BridgeMusik Summer Festival 2026: We the Music — Celebrating 250 Years of American Voices.

This engaging one-hour performance explores how immigrant artists and diverse musical traditions helped shape the sound of America. The program features Aaron Copland’s Sonata for Clarinet and Piano, William Bolcom’s Little Suite of Four Dances, and selections from Igor Stravinsky’s L’Histoire du soldat (The Soldier’s Tale) Trio Suite.

Presented at Nyack Library, the concert highlights the creative exchange between Old World influences and distinctly American voices, illustrating how composers from different backgrounds contributed to the nation’s evolving musical identity.

Inspired by the upcoming 250th anniversary of the United States, this year’s BridgeMusik Summer Festival explores the rich tapestry of American musical life through the works of American composers, jazz innovators, and immigrant artists who helped shape the nation’s cultural identity.

Festival highlights include Stravinsky’s The Soldier’s Tale at the Nyack Center on August 1–2, the world premiere of Dedication to Faust by Thomas Cabaniss, a newly commissioned work by The Dolphins Quartet, free Chamber Hour library concerts, student performances, and collaborations between emerging musicians and professional artists.

Following opening weekend, the festival continues throughout Rockland County with free concerts, community performances, student recitals, and special events celebrating American musical voices across generations.
