Silent Book Club

April 19, 2026 by helpdesk1

Gather, chat, and then spend about an hour silently reading your book of choice in the company of others who love to read. It’s a great way to be in the company of others when your social battery is low.

Light Refreshments will be provided.

FUGS Film!

April 17, 2026 by helpdesk1

FUGS Film!
Directed by Chuck Smith
2025, USA, 84 minutes

Discussion afterwards with the director, Chuck Smith, and Co-Producer, Myles Aronowitz

Chuck Smith revels in 1960s sounds and the spirit of counterculture with this politically pointed look back at the volatile energy of protest and creation behind the avant-garde NYC band The Fugs (say it out loud!). Even as band members Ed Sanders, Ken Weaver, and Tuli Kupferberg found that fighting the good fight eventually proved unsustainable, today they are—along with present-day commentators like Penny Arcade, Jeffrey Lewis, Lenny Kaye, and Aline and R. Crumb—just as individualistic and feisty.

How to Read a Book (of Poetry) with Valzhyna Mort’s Music for the Dead and Resurrected

April 16, 2026 by helpdesk1

Join All Ways Writing Collective and Big Red Books for the fifth installment of our How to Read a Book (Of Poetry) series in which we read aloud award-winning collections of poetry using intuitive forms of engagement. Facilitated by Lily Greenberg, this is a great event if you feel like you don’t “get” poetry and would be interested in experiencing poems in a new way; also great if you’re already a poetry fan and want to experience poems in community.

This time, we’re reading Valzhyna Mort’s Music for the Dead and Resurrected, and this event is particularly special because Valzhyna will be joining us for an in-person reading on Saturday, April 25 (also at Big Red Books).

Admission is the cost of our chosen book at 15% off, or similar if you already own the book and wish to purchase something else. 12 books are available on a first come, first served basis.

How to Read a Book of Poetry with Lily Greenberg

April 15, 2026 by helpdesk1

If you’ve ever felt like you don’t “get” poetry, this event is for you—poems require a special kind of engagement that’s more akin to classical music-listening than novel-reading, and works best read aloud in community as opposed to quietly alone. So, we’re creating this experience for you.

Join Big Red Books and All Ways Writing Collective in which we will read aloud together Valzhyna Mort’s Music for the Dead and Resurrected, using intuitive forms of engagement to better hear and appreciate the art at hand.

The program is free; all you need to do to register is purchase Music for the Dead and Resurrected from Big Red Books and receive 15% off. Please RSVP.
