Some work from places they have encountered, others rework existing landscapes in an attempt to deconstruct color and composition.

On View: April 4 – May 31, 2026

Gallery Hours: Friday-Sunday, 12-5 PM

Gather, chat, and then spend about an hour silently reading your book of choice in the company of others who love to read. It’s a great way to be in the company of others when your social battery is low.

“If I Had Legs I’d Kick You” Brings a Howl of Maternal Desperation Spiked with Jagged Humor

March 2026– A mother on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

That would be Linda, the protagonist of “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You”, which Rivertown Film is screening on Wednesday, March 25th at The Nyack Center (South Broadway at Depew Ave., entrance on South Broadway). Linda, a therapist, has good reason to be at her breaking point: her living room ceiling has just caved in, necessitating a move to a cheap motel. She is the mother of a child who refuses to eat and must be sustained by a feeding tube. Her husband, who undermines her, is a cruise captain on a monthslong trip. She has a patient whose delusions about her baby are very concerning, and Linda’s own therapist seems to hate her.

Who wouldn’t be on the verge?

Brilliantly portrayed by Rose Byrne, an Oscar nominee for her performance, Linda’s choices grow increasingly horrible and irresponsible as she suffers one setback after another. The spot on, disquieting sound design of the film emphasizes Rose’s suffocation.
The movie turns a mother’s anxiety into an almost supernatural force.

Doors to the Nyack Center open at 7:30pm, and the film begins at 8pm. Tickets are $13/General Admission, $11/Students & Seniors, and $9/Rivertown Film Members More information can be found at rivertownfilm.org.

Rivertown Film is a non-profit organization which was founded in 2001. Their mission is devoted to celebrating, exploring and promoting the art of the motion picture through film screenings and educational programs. The organization is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts and with the support of Governor Kathy Hochul and the New York State Legislature, and our corporate sponsor are Elena Schloss, Happy Dwellings with Elena/ Julia B. Fee, Sotheby’s International Realty, Painter Smith Advertising, Emily J. Blake MD, and Emerald Medicare.
