Meet and Greet with Seth Tannenbaum

Seth S. Tannenbaum is an assistant professor of sport studies at Manhattanville University where he teaches Baseball and American Society, Spectators and Fans, Urban Sport, and American Sport History. He earned a PhD in American History at Temple University and a BA in History at Vassar College. Bleacher Seats and Luxury Suites: Democracy and Divisionat the Twentieth Century Ballpark is his first book. His other scholarship has been published in The Journal of African American History, The Journal of Sport History, Nine: A Journal of Baseball History & Culture, the Washington Post, and the Philadelphia Inquirer.

Film Screening – Blue Moon

Composer Richard Rogers and lyracist Lorenz Hart worked together on 28 musicals and more than 500 songs, many of which are legendary classics of the Great American Songbook, among them My Funny Valentine, The Lady is a Tramp, Manhattan, and the song of the film’s title, Blue Moon. Blue Moon takes place in 1943 on opening night of the smash hit, Oklahoma!,  Rogers’ and his new writing partner, Oscar Hammerstein’s first musical. Hart has left the theater after watching only the first half, retiring to theater district hang out, Sardi’s, to contemplate his life while waiting for the show to end and Rogers to appear for his congratulations. Directed by Richard Linklatter, with Ethan Hawke, Bobby Cannavale, Andew Scott, Margaret Qualley, 2025, USA, 100 minutes.

Discussion with the novelist and screenwriter, Robert Kaplow, who is an Oscar nominee for this film.

ArtsRock Classical Candlelight Concert: Sean Lee and Jingwen Tu

American violinist Sean Lee is a recipient of Lincoln Center’s Avery Fisher Career Grant, and has captured the attention of audiences worldwide, with performances described by The New York Times as “breathtakingly beautiful”.

A long-time violinist with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, Lee has also collaborated in performances with Itzhak Perlman, Sir James Galway, Deborah Voigt, and members of the Emerson and Guarneri String Quartets.

Lee was born in Los Angeles then moved to New York City at age 17, where he studied at the Juilliard School with Mr. Perlman earning both a Bachelor and Master of Music Degrees, and received the William Schuman Prize upon graduation.

Joining Sean will be pianist Jingwen Tu, who has had been hailed for her performances across America and Europe. Among other noted venues, she’s played at Lincoln Center and Bard College Conservatory, where she is a Professor of Piano.

Meet and Greet with Author Barbara Worton

Barbara Worton is the author of Chatterbox: Stories from a Noisy Life, Bedtime Stories: The Short, Long and Tall Tales of a Sleepwriter and  Too Tall Alice. She co-authored If I’m Talking, Why Aren’t You Listening? with Linda Dini Jenkins and The Adventures of The Baker’s Daughter with Rochelle Udell. Her stories have appeared in Memories of John Lennon, The Haight-Ashbury Literary Journal, Ovunque Siamo, The Paterson Literary Review, Italian American/University of Illinois Press, VIA: Voices in Italian Americana and Platform Review. She has also written for women’s magazines and business publications, was an Associate Producer on the award-winning independent film Surviving on LES and is a member of the Italian American Writers Association.
