Author Talk and Book Signing With Lori Woolever

Laurie Woolever is an author, editor, public speaker, and former cook. She has written for the New York Times, Vogue, GQ, Food & Wine, Lucky Peach, Saveur, Dissent, and others. Woolever is a graduate of Cornell University and the French Culinary Institute. A former editor at Art Culinaire and Wine Spectator, she has co-authored two books (Appetites: A Cookbook and World Travel: An Irreverent Guide) with the late Anthony Bourdain, for whom she worked as an assistant for nine years. She authored Bourdain: The Definitive Oral Biography in 2021, co-authored a cookbook (Richard Hart Bread) with the legendary baker Richard Hart in 2024, and published her memoir, Care and Feeding, in March 2025. Laurie co-hosts a food-focused podcast, Carbface for Radio, with affable shit-stirrer Chris Thornton, and is a writer for Flaming Hydra, a creator- owned newsletter collective.

ArtsRock continues their partnership with EcoTones Ensemble presenting EcoTones Concerts: The Wise Trees of River Hook on June 1, 2025. The Hudson Valley EcoTones Ensemble embeds throughout Upper Nyack’s River Hook Preserve in an innovative and enchanting live music performance, inviting audience members to embark on a musical walking journey through the preserve with jazz and classical chamber ensembles highlighting the wisdom offered by River Hook’s notable trees.

Open Mic with Featured Poet A. Anupama

A. Anupama has been writing, teaching, organizing, and creating beauty forever. She is a Tamil-American poet-artist and translator with work appearing in publications such as Prairie Schooner, Tupelo Quarterly, The Rumpus, and Numéro Cinq Magazine. Her poetry chapbook Saffron Threaded is available from Dancing Girl Press, an independent, feminist publisher based in Chicago.

A graduate of Vermont College of Fine Arts and Northwestern University, Anupama currently works as a freelance writer in healthcare communications, with a focus on oncology, vaccines, and women’s health projects. All Ways Writing Circle

The All Ways Writing Circle offers time, space, community, and inspiration to get some writing done. This is for anyone who wants to write—in any genre—and would benefit from dedicated time. Facilitated by Lily Greenberg, participants will be offered a prompt, approximately 45 minutes to write, then a chance to share their work in a warm and supportive group setting. No experience needed, all genres welcome. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Admission is $12.
Participants are encouraged to register on Eventbrite. Walk-ins are also welcome, and can pay at the door by cash, check, or Venmo.
